SCOPING

Azal works with the client to define the analytical question with precision. Where necessary, Azal challenges and refines the scope, and ascertains the need for additional primary sources. Where we don’t feel confident we can deliver the work to high standards, we step back.

EXPERT SELECTION

The right specialists and relationships are identified from Azal’s vetted network. Selection is based on the requirements of the scope, including the depth of domain expertise, geographic presence, and the analytical perspective each expert brings. Where the brief requires primary sources, field engagement is conducted by a trusted network member.

INDEPENDENT COMMISSIONING

Each expert produces their assessment independently, without sight of the others’ views. This is deliberate, as the value of multiple expert views lies in their independence. Divergences are equally instructive, mapping the genuine fault lines in expert opinion and give the client a more honest picture of what is known and what is contested. Where needed, this assessment includes inputs from field-research.

SYNTHESIS AND DELIVERY

The principal produces the final output: a structured analysis that maps where expert positions converge and where they diverge, identifies the key fault lines, and adds the principal’s own analytical judgement on the inputs. This is not a neutral aggregation — the principal brings a point of view, clearly labelled as such, alongside the independent expert assessments. The raw expert inputs are always provided as an appendix. The client receives the full picture: every individual view, and one structured synthesis that makes it decision-ready.

Secure protocols and platforms

Azal does not discuss, reference, or disclose client relationships. Every expert engaged on a mandate operates under a framework agreement that includes strict confidentiality obligations. Information is shared on a need-to-know basis only. No individual involved in a mandate has access to information beyond what their specific role requires. Azal takes information security seriously as a matter of firm architecture, not as an afterthought.

The following measures are standard across all engagements:

Encrypted communications

All firm email communications are hosted on ProtonMail, with end-to-end encryption as standard. Client correspondence is never conducted over unencrypted channels.

Swiss-hosted infrastructure

Azal’s web and data infrastructure is hosted in Switzerland, under Swiss privacy law — one of the most protective legal frameworks for data confidentiality in the world.

Information compartmentalisation

Client information is shared only on a strict need-to-know basis. No expert or contractor has access to information beyond what their specific role on a mandate requires.

Project-specific email addresses

Experts engaged on a mandate are provided with a dedicated Azal email address for the duration of the engagement. No external personal or institutional email addresses are used for client work.
